Electric Fan Heaters

Electric Fan Heaters are made up of a heating element that generates thermal energy by passing an electrical current through a resistive element that generates heat through the Joule effect. They also have an electric fan that blows air across the heating element and distributes hot air throughout the room. These heaters are classified as convection heaters because they provide a consistent heating effect and, depending on how well the space being heated is insulated, can maintain comfort levels even after the unit is turned off. Many of these heaters are portable and are powered by a normal outlet connection.

Ceramic Heaters

Ceramic heaters are a type of electric heater in which the heating element is composed of positive temperature coefficient (PTC) ceramic material. These heaters are available in both a convective form that uses a fan to transmit heat to the room and a radiant form that performs similarly to the previously described electric infrared heater. This sort of heater is safer because the heating element is made of ceramic. When polycrystalline ceramic heats up, its thermionic resistance begins to increase. This leads to a self-limiting state for the heating element, prohibiting the ceramic from absorbing more heat from the electrical resistance and, as a result, limiting the heater’s temperature.

Floor Heaters

Installing electric floor heaters, which employ electric heating cables or floor heating wires buried in the flooring of rooms, is another electric heater alternative. These heaters are frequently referred to as in-floor radiant heating, although as previously stated with electric baseboard heaters, the term radiant – which normally refers to heat transfer via radiation – is less applicable in this case.
