With 46 days left for the Tokyo Olympic Games to begin, the eagerness of Indian athletes is evident. Expressing his excitement ahead of the much-awaited global event, Olympian Tushar Khandekar said the Indian men’s hockey team would be one of the top contenders for the medal.

In a podcast series ‘Hockey Te Charcha’ started by Hockey India ahead of the Olympic Games, Tushar said, “Definitely I am excited to watch the Olympics. Seeing the performance of the Indian men’s team, I can say that the team won medals. are strong contenders.”

He further said that India’s past experiences have taught important lessons and players understand very well how small mistakes can cost in a big tournament like the Olympics.

He said, “We have learned from every Olympic Games. We didn’t qualify in 2008, we finished 12th in London and 8th in Rio. We learned from the mistakes we made in 2012. Athletes who were part of the London Olympics, like Sreejesh, Manpreet, Sunil, Danish Mujtaba, Raghunath, and others, who also got a chance to play in Rio, told themselves that the team would repeat the mistakes made in London in Rio and it was reflected in their games in Rio. Like, I’m sure the players who were a part of Rio will avoid the mistakes they made there in Tokyo.”
