In our free time, more than half of our time is spent on the phone. However, without recharge and internet, the phone is a box. Now, in such a situation, if the recharge gets over, we recharge without any delay. Some people recharge before the money gets over so that there is no inconvenience. But sometimes it happens that if we have Wi-Fi installed at our place, then we use it for a few days without recharge.
However, if you do not do the recharge process for a few days, then the incoming and OTP stops coming on the number. Now in such a situation, one has to recharge. But have you ever wondered why telecom companies close the SIM. This did not happen a few years ago. In this article today, we are going to tell you what is the new policy of telecom companies and what is the reason behind this rule-
Why is the SIM card closed after the recharge is over?
If you do not recharge your prepaid SIM card within a certain time, then incoming and outgoing call services are stopped. Although different companies have their own different policies. But usually this period can be up to 90 days. During this time limit your number remains inactive.
Does the SIM get registered to someone when it is in-activated?
Many times people feel that if we do not recharge our number, then it will be registered in someone else’s name after it is closed. But let us tell you that this is not the case, even after de-activation, the SIM is registered in your name. However, if you keep the SIM closed for more than 3 months, then the company can close your SIM card permanently.
What is the new policy of telecom companies?
Telecom companies in India can deactivate prepaid SIM cards if they are not recharged as per TRAI rules. Usually, if a SIM card is not used for 3 months i.e. outgoing, incoming calls, SMS or data, then it is considered inactive. At the same time, some companies give a grace period to the customers after this period, usually 15 days, so that they can keep the number active by doing minimum recharge. If there is no recharge even in this grace period, then the SIM card is closed permanently.
