Italy. It is more than just a country with a rich history, culinary gems, and breathtaking scenery. The automotive scene is just as distinct. As we speak of EICMA 2026 being held there, a piece of Italy’s automotive avant-garde design is going to make its way to India – Italjet.
Italjet is bringing in two very interesting scooters. But before that, a little background. This brand dates back to 1959, and its name was adopted in 1967. Stand-out designs are why Italjet ‘stands’ out, and two models – the Dragster 459 Twin and the Dragster 300 – are coming to India.
459 Twin
An exposed steel frame is common to both. Starting with the 459 Twin, this scooter is equipped with both paddle shifters and a fully automatic option for the six-speed gearbox.
Powered by a 450cc inline-twin motor, it churns out 47bhp (9,500rpm) /41Nm (8,000rpm). This is a chain drive system. Features include an 815mm seat, 180kg kerb weight, 16-litre fuel tank, 15-inch tyres, 23.25 km/L claimed mileage, adjustable Marzocchi USD front fork, 270mm front disc with Brembo callipers, ABS, traction control, and a full-LED light system. An optional Akrapovic exhaust is also available.
Dragster 300
The next model is the Italjet Dragster 300. Weighing in at 140kg dry, it is powered by a 278 cc engine, churning out 23.45 bhp (8,250rpm)/25 Nm (6,250rpm). This setup is paired with a CVT and belt drive. Tyre sizing is also rather unconventional. The front tyre is 12 inches, while the rear tyre is 13 inches.
Feature-wise, the front brake is a 240mm disc, and the rear brake is a 175mm disc. Braking duties are handled by a Bosch dual-channel ABS system. An Independent Steering System (ISS) separates steering and suspension functions. The Dragster 300 is also equipped with a colour TFT screen.
Launch Timeline
Regarding its entry into India, both scooters will be locally assembled and sold through Motohaus India. These scooters will be officially launched at India Bike Week (IBW) in Panchgani, Maharashtra, in December 2026.
Pricing
While the 300cc Dragster is priced at €6,999, it translates to roughly Rs. 7.45 lakh, though local assembly could bring costs down.
International pricing for the Dragster 459 stands at €9,999 (Rs. 10.65 lakh).
