However, at present, many different types of dolls have started coming in the market. Warning- “Do not buy this demonic toy for your children or yourself.”
Now in such a situation, the question arises in the mind whether the Labubu doll really attracts ghosts or negative energy. Let us know in this article what is the argument of the Labubu doll going viral on social media being a monster.
What is the truth behind the Labubu doll?
The ongoing controversy escalated after fans destroyed their dolls. However, there is no evidence that Labubu is evil or has any connection with demons. Labubu was created by cartoonist Kasing Lung in 2015 as a part of his book series “The Monsters”. He told CGTN Europe in an interview that his characters were inspired by the European fairy tales he read in his childhood after coming to the Netherlands. Lung further said, “Labubu resides in his soul”.
In the books, Labubu is a female elf-like creature who looks mischievous but has a good heart. Lung teamed up with China-based Pop Mart to turn these into toys in 2019. Pop Mart says that while these toys may look “naughty”, they are actually kind and helpful. This doll has big demon-like eyes and big rabbit-like ears, as well as a dangerous smile on its face. Anyone can really get scared seeing this doll for the first time.
Why are people linking Labubu to the demon Pazuzu?
Viral posts on social media link the Labubu doll to Pazuzu, a demon from ancient Mesopotamian mythology. Pazuzu is featured in The Exorcist and resembles a creature with wings, tail and bulging eyes. According to media reports, this doll looks nothing like Pazuzu.
At the moment, Kasing Lung has not commented publicly on these claims. But in an interview given earlier, he had told that Laboobu was not born out of any darkness or devilry, but from fairy tales and childhood fantasies.
